Crosswalk Musical
This, like a lot of Kimmel and Fallon stuff could/should be a Radio bit on a morning show. But also like Survivor, Idol, Bachelor or any other TV theme, we can never do better than the original so you need to spin it.
You could do it with high school or college theater groups but at some place that is specifically local, like during zamboni time at a hockey game or 7th inning stretch at a baseball game. http://www.rollingstone.com/tv/news/watch-james-corden-stage-beauty-and-the-beast-on-a-crosswalk-w472393
Slink Your Way Backstage
Las month I was talking 1st Day Of Spring ideas with a station and this is something that came up and could pretty much be utilized for any front row or backstage thing.
Remembering of course, the next great contest methodology is no further away then Tom Wasmoen's birthday party in 4th grade, what if you got ten qualifiers and ten Slinkies (it's a fun and a wonderful toy)(good for a girl or a boy) and one at a time, send them (the Slinkies)(unless you have AMAZING release forms) down the stairs at the station. One that goes the furthest, wins for "its listener".
Party Starters
I think we can all agree that having a tent at a remote or event, and having no crowd or listeners there looks pretty pathetic. Ditto with huge events with music where people are just standing around.
My hotel bartender in Boston had a PT gig as a "party dance starter" for a mobile entertainment company at Bar Mitzvah's. It's like 8th grade dances. Unless you got to slow dance with Kay Comb, these were pretty uncomfortable social events. So the bartender's gig is to get the party going by dragging awkward boys out to start dancing.
There was a summer event two years ago where the Promotion Director got all the interns and assistants out from behind the booth and jamming to the music. Boom. Soon everyone was dancing.
Tutu's are great. If you're wearing a tutu, you're definitely relaxed. Last year Alpha Media was at the St. Patrick's bachnalia in Savannah and roving "Tutu dance teams" were working the event. You need a Tutu Dance Team for your big night time events this summer. When in doubt, use a sorority and spiff them we tickets to stuff.
Next up? Pride.
