One Second Cinema
This came up yesterday because a morning guy had to do something quick and fast around an "I Love The 90's" feature to award client swag. This is quick and fast. Literally. You play one second from a movie. ID and win.
Fisch has done this for awhile at 104.1 in Hartford, it's never not been sold and the winner gets some of the client's product or services.
People love movies and any version of the Secret Sound will in fact, kill. This is just marrying the two.
Tuba Tuesday
I did a call with one of the Country morning shows who were looking to update some of their set features. It turns out the guy part of the show played tuba, badly, in school. Therein lies the new feature. He'll play a hook from a different Country song every Tuesday. ID and win.
One spin to this would be to always have the right answer be "Achy Breaky Heart". Kind of like the Stupid Criminal thing that Power 96 in Miami does, called "Black, White, Hispanic or Other". The caller has to guess the race of that mornings crook who got arrested, stuck in the flue of a Waffle House, after stripping naked and greasing himself with Mazola to break in. The answer is ALWAYS White.
The Burning Building Theory Of Call-Ins
This was topical yesterday morning following an incident with my daughter and a toaster.
Strawberry, with CBS in San Francisco, when he was at Wild 94.9, came up with this theory about doing breaks from out in the community, like at beaches or parks or festivals or concerts, ie: places where there actually are a lot of people and where you should be.
When your house is on fire (or you think it's on fire), you need to get out quickly: what will you grab?
Ditto with a break: "Hey this is Dan In Van and I'm down here at Lake Nokomis, I'll be hanging out for another 20 minutes, so come by. I have some cold Pepsi, some Banana Boat suntan lotion and someone will be getting tickets to see Adele...."
Ehh. Adele is the most important thing, thus, she should start the break.
