The Best Contest Promo Of 2017 (So Far)
The best Steve Jones quote ever, in regards to "How long should a promo be?": "As long as it needs to be but not a second longer."
There was a station that went from First to Worst and their imaging guy was the first person to send up a distress signal when all of the copy he was getting was really brief, straight-to-the-point 17 second vibeless mush(tm). It ceased to be "remarkable".
This is from Island 106 where they are in Day Three of The Troll.
The Best Charity Idea Of 2017 (So Far)
So simple. So brilliant. Somewhere a talent/PD is going to set up a lemonade stand in the parking lot of his station, one day a week. And a different local charity each week will get the funds.
For Gas Stations
Convenience store chains generally have been solid and consistent advertisers of Radio, and one of the stations has a six store chain that is going to be giving away cars this summer.
I haven't seen a station use their morning show to deliver a song of the day or text code on gas pump video monitors. And I would have to believe that the client would have no problem with people pulling up to their pumps to catch the winning message for the next day. And there IS no purchase necessary so you skate on the lottery reg.
4th Of July Personal Shopper
One of the stations has a client that will give them some cash to be used for prizes. They just want, yes, added value. WPGC did something for the 4th that would be perfect for this kind of situation; they had listeners submit grocery lists for what they were going to need for their holiday barbecue. The station picked a few of them, went, did all the shopping, delivered the stuff and paid for it.
