Didja Know
I'm available to consult, advise and abuse stations on promotions. And the stations I work with are able to steal revenue away from the competition, and that's always nice. Questions? Hit me up at paigenienaber@gmail.com
Shock Ball Challenge
This is something that just about every youtuber with a load of followers will do and since they seem to average about 2 million views, well, duh. The screams will sound great on the morning show but the video is the payoff.
Backyard Shows
A followup to Friday's thing, from Joby with 94-5 The Moose in Saginaw:
We did a backyard makeover & concert about 10 years ago... Gave away a deck, patio furniture, grill, waterfall and had a new artist come and play in a listeners backyard. The winner lived in a trailer park... It rained, so we were all crammed in the trailer's tiny living room. Embarrassing!... Flash forward to last year, we did another backyard concert where listeners had to post pics of their yard. We had a sweet set-up with an in-ground pool, horseshoe pits, fire pit, and a shed that opened up into a stage. STELLAR event!
Mid-Summer Fun Day
Question to a panel at CRS in 2009: "How do you motivate your employees". Four managers or VP's answered before they got to Judy Ellis who said "We pay them". Dead silence.
Unless you have actually been on a street team, you probably don't understand the exhaustion that we inflict on the promo team.
One of the Citadel stations had a GREAT Promotion Assistant who had been the head RA at the University of Michigan. She was outstanding at doling out punishments but also, was the Fun Person in the dorm. She knew when all of her RA's needed something and then she'd surprise them with something like a pizza party. Just a little gesture like that goes a long way.
With her street team, right after the 4th, she took them all to a lake to go water skiing. Some beer. Some grilling. That stuff really counts.
