Great Moments In Advertising
There are only 800,000 realtors who advertise on benches and bus shelters. And this might be the only one to ever get shared.
Grip 'N Grin
I've learned a lot from people like Jerry Clifton and Bill Tanner and Steve Jones and Melissa Joan Hart and Tommy Kramer. Among the lessons:
- If everyone is doing something, don't do it.
Last year I was trolling Houston stations and three were doing The $1000 Free (Song/Text). Why would you want to do a promotion that another station is doing? That's nuts.
Ditto with Family Four Packs. I heard three stations in Phoenix once doing those at the same time for the same event.
The best? Ever? KSFM during the Rick Thomas Era when they did Tickets For The Whole Family. You win? Cool. How many tickets do you need? The GM said "People will lie!" Rick said "Uh...yeah...but we have 100 pairs of these things and they were free." Bing.
Oh, and Win It Before You Can Buy It? Another term that should be aged-out. I have a whole list for these and Prize Packs too.
Meet & Greets are GREAT prizes. Seriously. Great. But I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it's been used by all the stations in your market.
So, if you did something different, then, you'd stand out. Which basically is Promotions.
Candidates call these things Grip 'N Grins. What an amazing name. Steal it.
