Art!
If you ever wondered what an ad for a vegan pizza restaurant in Portland looks like, this is CPR Director of Computer Stuff, Bel Boschi, modeling for one. Not exactly sure why it looks like an ISIS hostage video but nuance is easily lost on people who live on farms in Scandia, Minnesota.
"It Seems To Work In PPM..."
I remember someone saying that about a version of "Secret Sound" and I thought "Well, it worked when cavemen (and women) were filling out surveys in charcoal on rock walls, it worked in diary, so it probably will work in PPM. ('Sigh' is implied)". Ditto with High/Low and Beat The (whatever).
Single Play contests (big cash amount when a song is played after a few weeks of teasing the audience have worked ginormously for Hot 89.9 in Ottawa and a station in Vancouver.
Triple Plays have worked as Menage A Gaga at stations like KLUC, Wild in SFO, Power in Miami, 102 Jamz in Orlando and another 100 stations that kind of blur together.
Back To Back's have worked a million times as Back To Back To Bieber, Back To Back To A Beemer and too many other versions to remember. Like the current promotion at Boom 97.3 in Toronto. http://www.boom973.com/back-2-back-2-the-beach/
Back To School
The first "we have a client that needs..." request came through yesterday.
Some stations have used luxury cars on-loan from a client for parents to take their kids to school in-style.
There are a million versions of school supply drives. At Ocean 100/PEI they fill a bus.
At Island 106 in Panama City they collect backpacks and fill them.
A station in Omaha collected used band instruments as "Band Together" so that kids could have a chance to be in school music programs.
And Jamz in Greenville? They do a day of free haircuts and they get LINES for this.
Bad Bad Things
I once sent something out about little dirty tricks you can do for keeping people away from your competition's booth. This is what I'm talking about,
but with an overweight street teamer in a way way too small competition t-shirt.
Warm It Up Kris
A former morning show co-host and current flight attendant e-mailed me something over the weekend. She was stranded in Nagoya her hotel had bidets with heated toilet seats. (I'm going to plead ignorance on this. I'm knee-deep in translating the original text of 1st Thessalonians for Wednesday night bible study, but will look it up when I'm done with the project.) Anyway, she was so excited about this thing that she plans to buy one and actually looked it up. www.washlets.com is the site. They could not have been unintentionally MORE funny. Again, I don't get it. But it might be fun for the morning show section of your website.
