The Best Line Of 2017 (So Far)
Tom Davis and his street team and WiLD in Tampa are coming off two back-to-back serious (anatomy) kickings at concerts in that market. It was more than the weekend contesting and things leading up to the shows, it was their on-site set-up that created a line of 200 people to get their photos taken.
I went to a Taylor Swift show a couple of years ago where six or seven stations from around the region were set up and ALL of them had the same standup display of her. (At 3/4's actual size: Mini Taylor) And my client found a blond woman who walked around and posed and was mobbed and got on TV. Why? Because the other stations went with their first answer.
Tom's theory? "Don't go with the first idea. That's what everyone else will have and go with."
Teacher Of The Month
Again, if everyone is doing something, don't do it. And it seems like a lot of stations do teacher salutes, which is cool, but if it's already taken in the market, consider what WiLD in Tampa did as Reverse Appling. Instead of giving a teacher an apple, he/she gave a student a metaphorical apple and recognized them for whatever reason they are recognizable. Plus it still allows you to get the teacher in the spot light and maybe acknowledge whatever Apple product is due to trend.
I Would Have Gone With "The 103 Days Of Summer"
And you have to love WinDough stickers. http://www.kzia.com/instasummer-2017/
Cut The Cord
I've seen various incarnations of this but basically it's a female-talent driven promotion based on helping mom's get through the traumatic first week after college move-in day. It could be a guest but generally therapy guests are like listening to cars rust. In the case of Kate at Mix in Boise, it was something every night where she went out and spa'd or drank or danced or saw a movie with a group of these listeners.
Juicebox Heroes
This is probably something that should be put into the hands of the sales people and put on the streets. It was done as Sidewalk Heroes by KSON in San Diego but this name from Jay Kruz at Mix in Cincinnati would work too. If people are going to be posting photos of their youngsters with their backpacks waiting for the bus on the first day of school, then why shouldn't they be posting to your social media too?
