Corn Mazes
Halloween contesting a prizing begins with a vengeance this weekend. One of the stations has passes to a local corn maze. These are great family prizes and any time you can knock the price off some family day out, well, that's great. The weekend contest will "stick the caller in the middle of the corn maze". They'll be presented with the choice of turning right or left. The correct choice gets them the tickets. The wrong choice puts them face to face with a chainsaw wielding maniac. It's like any game show; people love to see other people get zonked. Or eviscerated in this case.
Pet Psychics
Following up on that stuff I sent out, Corey Foley from KILT in Houston offers up this website for Maria Steele, who does pet readings and LOVES doing Radio. All her info should be in here www.healingwithenergy.com
The Free Money Dog
Had a great brainstorming session with the airstaff at Radiowave. Q in Memphis was the first station to do Live I where they stuck an iphone with a live video feed to youstream that that posted in-time footage to the station site. They had someone with this in their backpack pouch, moving around town. Trace their footsteps in real time and ask them if they were the Live I Guy and get Bieber tickets.
The dog version would have a phone clipped to a dog that's being walked. Find the dog (and the walker) and say "Nice doggy, now give me my tickets..." and win.
Facebook Juicing
Most of you have used staged calls to help spike interest or help explain fundamentals in a contest. It's a no brainer. And more than a few of you have used fake Facebook people to cause mayhem on the competition's fan pages.
NOTHING is sadder than seeing a dj post a comment or question on Facebook...and there's NO reply. Even for the freaking spam, "Hey, who's going to join me at Club Cancun for Under Age Chicks With Fake ID"s Night??!!" and NO ONE replies.
You should have every jock create 5 people. If they want to populate them with some mutual friends to round out the charade, great. But just so you can post and then add in some enthusiastic and positive comments to get the stream going.
It's KIND of like multiplying by ten when you announce how many people voted for a topic on the morning show. "26 people voted for Yes and 18 people voted for No". Ugh. No, that was 260 and 180.
