This Is Yet Another Great Read From Lori Lewis
She hits on the dangers of rumors and social media. https://www.allaccess.com/merge/archive/26969/even-if-you-re-right---if-you-re-rude-or-in-this?
The Best Back To School Contest Of 2017
This is some of the raw unedited video from Hot 100.5/Norfolk's annual client promotion that dumps numbered golf balls out of a helicopter. God Bless The Silly People(tm) https://www.facebook.com/hot1005/videos/10155235418338929/
Tickets For A Year
We're pretty distanced from the reality that our listeners live and operate in. Look at our casual attitude towards meet and greet giveaways. These are million dollar prizes that should be hyped into the stratosphere.
We also forget that for the average person, going to a movie for free is a great prize. One of the stations is putting together an All Access themed promotion where several people will win tickets to 10 concerts in 2016. As the OM puts it: Your special pass to 10 of the hottest shows of 2016! ( In reality, you'll receive tickets to 1 great show, 3 mediocre ones, and 6 pair to shows we can't give away!)
To do this with movie tickets, and if you're a station that gets them, you usually get a LOT, would be HUGE. Movies are the entertainment universal. People love movies.
Names
With pretty much every radio station doing exactly the same thing (Win It Before You Can Buy It, Family Four Packs and Prize Packs), just simple semantics will differentiate what you're doing from the rest of the pack. Which is what Promotions is, basically. Standing out.
With that said, three promo requests crossed my desk yesterday that could be fun to play with.
- One of the stations is going to do a costume drive for low income kids. Seriously, I've never heard this done. Really cool idea. Possible name? "(Station's) Charity Bootique"
- You should have a list of every family event, haunted house, corn maze, costume parade and other Halloween attraction on your website. And it's OBVIOUSLY sponsorable. Instead of Map Quest, a station-to-remain-nameless is calling theirs Haunt Quest.
- A Newcap station is going to stick their Friday night club gigs under an umbrella and then change up the theme every month, ie: Cougar Month. Why do people go to a club? To drink and fornicate. Basically. "The Friday Night Hook Up" would cover that, as would "12 Step Fridays."
