Vegas To Texas
Congrats to everyone at KLUC in Las Vegas for a historic relief drive to the Harvey victims in Texas. The station has been a monster for decades and a big part of their success is that they will step down and change the plans for things like this. http://kluc.cbslocal.com/2017/09/07/join-chet-buchanan-the-morning-zoo-and-zappos-for-hurricane-harvey-relief/
The Diapers Over-floweth
One of the things that you will find is that when you ask the audience to bring disaster relief supplies, they will quickly exceed your expectations. That just happened with iHeart in Portland and Summit in Greenville. With the Moore, Oklahoma tornado, a CHR was hoping for one full truck and got six. Mix in Kansas City was shooting for one for Katrina and had to keep putting out requests for more trucks. They filled seven.
This is from Dan Seeman at Hubbard in Minneapolis in regards to their diaper drive:
This morning we kicked off the myTalk 107.1 Diaper Drive for Hurricane Relief and it is going beyond expectations. In fact, we just made the decision to get a bigger truck to drive down to the Texas Diaper Bank in San Antonio. We are also raising money to buy diapers for the Miami Diaper Bank in Florida.
Thank you to everyone who is making this happen. Especially Ron Ungerman and Ungerman Restoration who will be donating the truck and driving it to Texas.
Our goal is 100,000 diapers. I think we are well past halfway to the goal.
(Paige's note: they collected 250,000)

Weather Visuals
20 years into the internet and we still have challenges playing to the camera. But there are glimmers of hope.
Jackie Donovan in Glens Falls tied a stuff cat to a rope and to a pole to gauge Cat-egory winds during Sandy. The snapped and the cat was found a block away.
Kennedy at Mix in Boston used a chiropractor kids skeleton to measure snow during a a blizzard.
Jason Cage at B-96 in Chicago did the frozen t-shirt visual to demonstrate wind chills.
And PK at Power in Atlanta used a Taylor Swift cut out to measure Irma winds:
We decided to have a little fun by introducing the 'Swift Weather Update'. A 24/7 weather camera located on my balcony in Midtown, Atlanta.
The challenge was to be the first person that tweet's at us when the life-size cardboard cut out of Taylor Swift goes flying. In the chance that it didn't, anyone that was watching was entered into a drawing for tickets to the biggest music festival in Atlanta- Music Midtown!
She shook, she got wet, but somehow is still there.
Some listeners watched for 12+ hours!!!
