I Was Told There'd Be No Math
A trip to the Life Is Beautiful fest in Las Vegas dropped in Carlos Duran's lap at KOB-FM in Albuquerque on Tuesday and yesterday morning, in honor of the destination they had listeners count cards. All morning Carlos and Kiki dealt cards and at the end of the show, the first person to call in and say "59" as the total value of the hand, won the trip.
To award tickets to a sold out Bruno show, Hot 98.1 in Greenville did High Low For Bruno. Dex would think think of a number between 1 and 981. The person to guess it based on previous guesses and high or low prompts, got the tickets.
The Stuff That Sirius Can't Do
I've never understood our obsession with trying to beat them at their one true advantage. We have so many things we can do that they can't like...
Feeding The Utility Crews& First Responders
From Jennifer Cartwright at Alpha in West Palm Beach:
Today and Friday we're doing food drops to the FPL workers and first responders. The electricity workers are working 12 to 16 hour shift's and are not getting food where they are working. Their hub stations do you provide breakfast lunch and dinner but their trucks are out in such a long work shift increments that they're not able to get back to their hub stations to eat so they are out on the roads for 12 to 16 hours at a time.
So we thought how cool would it be to bring them some food and drop it off where they're working.
Subway is on board and giving us a large amount of sandwiches.
We are currently coordinating the Promotions staff and talent to do the food drops. We are going to roll-up with 7 station vehicles - FLEET ON FLEEK, LOL... it will feel good!!Collecting A Truck Load Of Diapers
And remember, their goal was 100,000. From Dan Seeman at myTalk in the Twin Cities:
I am so proud of the staff of myTalk 107.1. While following the news of the devastating hurricanes and floods in Texas and Florida the staff of myTalk heard about a need for diapers. Both the Texas Diaper Bank in San Antonio and the Miami Diaper Bank put out the call for diapers to be distributed throughout the hurricane-ravaged states.
On Monday and Tuesday myTalk 107.1 hosted a diaper drive, hoping to collect 100,000 diapers to be driven to Texas.
I am pleased to share with you that the myTalk 107.1 Diaper Drive collected and raised money so over 215,000 diapers will be distributed by the Texas Diaper Bank and the Miami Diaper bank!
The Diaper Drive started with the goal to put 100,000 diapers into a 16 foot box truck provided by Ungerman Restoration. By the end of the first day we knew we needed a bigger truck, so Ungerman Restoration rented a 26 foot moving truck. We collected over 150,000 diapers and filled the 26 foot truck. The truck is on the way to San Antonio, Texas, driven by Ron and Sonia Ungerman. We also had some great support from listeners and our KTMY advertising partners and raised nearly $8,500 in cash. That money will be donated to both the Texas Diaper Bank and the Miami Diaper Bank and we believe that money will supply at least 65,000-75,000 additional diapers to those in need. Big thanks to Ungerman Construction and Restoration, Nutritional Weight and Wellness, First Equity Mortgage, Blue Plate Restaurants, White Bear Mitsubishi and the Kris Lindahl Team for their donations. Also thanks to Rosedale and The General Store for being collection locations.
This effort was made possible by the great leadership of Amy Daniels, Brook O'Rourke, Sonia Ungerman and Jess Somers. I can't tell you how hard they worked in the planning and execution of this fundraiser. They literally had to load 150,000 diapers (and unload and load again) into a hot box truck on a 85 degree day. Thank you!
Also-thanks to everyone at myTalk 107.1 (and a shout-out to Elizabeth Fenske for her assistance) for making this happen. As usual, this was a total team effort and we needed all hands on deck to reach our goal. Thank you to the airstaff, the sales staff and HBI Building Services. Personal thanks to the business department for helping me with the cubic foot math when trying to figure out how many diapers we collected.
The diapers collected by myTalk 107.1 will make life just a little bit easier for those whose lives were turned upside down by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.
And We Can Break Format
Like Hot 104.5 in Knoxville where they started playing "Low" by Flo Rida at 9 am and didn't stop until they hit their cash goal of $5000. This is not the kind of response or number of shares you get with "text a code"
