Noise Girl
In the beginning, there was Party Girl and stations like the Hot's in Ottawa and Norfolk would have their person out every night at clubs, block parties, events and basically wherever large numbers of people would be to take photos and be seen and market the station.
WiLD in Tampa has always had some kind of street team out during the night show so that the talent can focus on the show and content but still have the ability to be out and interacting with people for that extra "sound".
There have always been Stunt Guys. Back when Dom was programming 92.3 in NY and people listened to that station, they had Noise Girl. Someone who could be out and doing stuff and let Nick do his thing. Things like standing at the bottom of the escalator at Laguardia with a sign that said "Welcome To Boston!" or standing on the side of LIE in bloody scrubs, holding a cooler and frantically hitchhiking.
I have a starter list for her if you'd like to see it.
Jock Photos
They're kind of like jock bios in that we try to look better and appear cooler than we really are. One of the VT'ers shot is her in a bathrobe, hair in curlers, laying on a couch eating popcorn.
Laura Daniels tries a couple of times a year to tweak the staff pics, if even for a week. For things like graduation where everyone recreated their very serious yearbook shots.
And then you have Tubby. If you're going to call yourself Tubby, don't use an Olin Mills photo. http://www.myrock105.com/shows/tubby/
Live With & Cash Kitty
We're great at rediscovering old themes and methodologies. One of the stations is bringing back Cash Kitty, which V in Atlanta debuted and K-Earth in LA brought back a few years ago. It's high/low but with a feral cat living at the station as your antagonist. I have copy from LA if you'd like to see it.
Live With really debuted at Newcap in Red Deer where they did Live With A Hog: twenty or so listeners carrying around a cardboard cutout of a Harley to win $5000 and a trip to Australia.
It's been done several times in the States with listeners carrying around cutouts of the morning show and earning points for doing stuff like posing in the competition's lobby. Most points at the end of the month wins. Coming back in a couple of weeks somewhere where it's warm
