Fugitive
Radio is pretty darn amazing at rediscovering old methodologies. Like suddenly stumbling on High/Low four years ago. "It works great in PPM." No, yah think?
Fuge is great for cume. I think Kiss in Seattle saw some kind of 50% cume pop in some dayparts. It was seriously stupid.
- You can get clients on board. Eezy peezy. Just don't include them in the phrase, ie: "Are you the New Vanilla Diet Pepsi K-108 $5000 Free Money Birthday Game Fugitive?
- You can get ridiculous web traffic off it. Kiss in Boise got 1.3 million visits in three weeks.
- The key is that you don't treat it like it's a contest because people hate contests. It's a movie. On the radio. As soon as you make the call-in times Radio Appt. Times, like 11:06 and 2:06, it will be a contest and no one will care. As evidenced by the huge number of people who play our contests.
Intertexttion
I went to a movie with my 17 year-old niece over the weekend and like any teenager, she sat and texted literally every moment we were out.
There was a Radio Bit over in the UK where they took away the internet and cell phone of a listener...who slowly went insane over the course of the week. The viral video potential is insane.
What if you took away a kids cellphone so they can't text. And then follow their week as they either detextify or try to cheat. If they make it, they get a bike, a soccer ball, a kite, a library card, and other toys for enjoying their new-found freedom. Or a years free service from Sprint.
Holiday Parades
Most of you have some form of Christmas parade in your market. Me? I'd ignore them. Waste of time. PPM doesn't care about getting out in front of 300,000 people. Screw 'em. They're just people. We care about meters. But that's just me.
One of the Florida stations hasa paradecoming upand, as the Marketing Director said about their competitor last year: They have their state of the art vehicle, great sound, a staff of like 50,
killer signage and the bastards had a snow machine.
Bodies are always the most important. He who hath the mosteth winneth. Citadel in Knoxville HOSTS the parade for that city and bulked up by getting the waitresses from one of their clubs to dress up as walking presents and join them.Just like Mr. Pitt, most people out there will never EVER be in a parade. This is a money-can't-buy opportunity. Get some winners involved. Make their life.
KOB-FM stole a No Doubt show by handing out thousands of logo'ed red and green flicking lights that can clip onto your clothes.
You want attention? Cover you staff from head to toe in these things. Big seizure-inducing red and green walking strobe lights. The people on the route will still be suffering from temporary cornea shock when the competition rolls past.

Great For Malls
We're going into Mall Season. I'm probably not going to accurately convey how large this was, but it was.
I did The Dating Game. Men and women registered at the mall. Six guys and six women were chosen to play. Stage was built in the middle of the mall, with a partioned set up: three chairs blocked by a wall. Taking turns, our two male models and two female models (from a client) quizzed three bachelors or bachelorettes and then chose the person they wanted to go on a date with. Limo. Dinner. Movie. A nice night out.
It was actually very cool and very simple to put together. And is an event that could be stuck in just about any client's location.
