CPR: More Than Just Annoying E-Mails
I'm about to close up shop and stop taking new clients, but am holding one or two slots open for risidulously cool people who get it and want to have fun. And it's about helping with AE's and promo writing. More than just the daily email.
The beauty of having close to 200 stations in the network is that you have access to resources. One of the stations needed a Barry Gibb voice for a promo and BING...Paul Kaye at Z-95.3 in Vancouver is from the UK. Australia? Britain? Who cares? He was great.
Joey Tack at Scripps in Knoxville needed a stern hillbilly read for his weekend promo. Scott Schulte at KZIA is a stern hillbilly. The copy was returned, and read, and brilliant, in 30 minutes.

Party Planner
Mike Danger from 98PXY in Rochester once hit me up for a better name for "Club Calendar". Which is what every station in America runs. Either that or "Here's what's happening...". The name I lobbed at Mike was "Party Planner" because, well, that's what it helps people do; plan their night out partying.
96.5 Cayrock on Grand Cayman did a similar feature. It's a very very hip station. So sometimes when you're that cool, you can pull off the "Anti" bit. There was a great character in a Kids In The Hall sketch. "Nina from Joymakers". She was an old, unhip party planner. Having HER as the voice of your Party Planner feature would make it stand out from all the other promos and crap. Which is kind of the point, right?.For Spring Break
One of the CPR stations is doing a mess 'o trips to Spring Break. What if you did Spring Break Starter Kits: a can cooler, a t-shirt and a logoed spray bottle for getting the t-shirt soaked and turning it into a wet t-shirt. Even better would be t-shirts that have a giant circle around the chest area with tiny instructions that say "Wet thoroughly for best results. Wait ten minutes. Re-soak as needed."
It Puts The Lotion On It's Skin Or Else It Gets The Hose Again
Do you have any idea how long I've waited to use that as a header? Lots and lots of parades for St. Patty's Day. And in many of the markets where you're reading this, it's cold. Like in Rochester, New York where, a couple of years ago, the promo staff marched the route, handing out Kleenex to parents who had little kids with runny noses. Sounds stupid but as Rachel Knight described it, you could not have given these people a better item at that moment. They were eternally grateful. Hand lotion and lip balm would be terrific also for the people shivering along the route.
