March Baldness
If you're stuck for a gallery contest for next month, men submitting their bald heads is why none of the good media will take us. https://soundcloud.com/cprpromo/march-baldness-promo-3
How Is This Not A Morning Show Feature?
When I'm bored, I'll bait and switch and lead Nigerian scammers along. This was found by Terry O'Donnell. http://textastrophe.com/
Alphabet Jams
Done at KSFM in Sacramento where they played a version of Wheel Of Fortune on the air, giving out a letter every hour and taking a guess as to what the name or phrase was, until someone could put the pieces together and get it right for $1000. Like the "$10,000 Superstars", or any kind of Scrambled Jams bit, I like it because it forces people to track the guesses if they want to play and win.
The Prize You'd Kill For
Another contest from the Great White North, this promotion offers a trip or front row tickets or something equally large to the winner of a giant paintball battle.
Boom Boom Bang
One of the stations has concert tickets and was looking for something to do outside that would overshadow what the competition will be doing across the plaza. The idea? Boom Boom Bang. A hundred balloons with prize slips in them. Step up, pull down a balloon, pop it, win whatever's inside, including tickets and passes to the afterparty. It will be noisy, which is a great metaphor for Promotions. You want to be loud. Loud gets noticed.
Interns
Basic mathematical formula? You want to start the Summer with 25. You'll end with 6. Trust me. I know of what I speak.
- Posting a solicit on the website won't do it. Posting in the schools will get you a third of the way there. Running a promo will get you a couple. You need to do all these, plus, work contacts, visit the schools, see if clients' have teams or squads. I'm attaching a solicit that's been used by Hot in Houston.
- You need weird, goofy, out-going, charismatic street performers. You find these people by getting them all together and doing a night of bonding and auditioning. Wired in Saskatoon has a great great Street Team. They did an audition night at a rec center, had them display talents, had them get up and talk about themselves, and basically weeded out the quiet shlubby people.
- You need one of them to be the leader. Ask nicely and I'll send you everything I have on Street Generals.
