Baseball
Spring training is back, players have reported and popcorn is being popped and stored in giant bins to be resold in 120 days for $7 a box.
Arguably the best World Series contest in the last decade was at Z in St. Louis where Curt Copeland bopped out of his afternoon show and reappeared in a batting cage 30 minutes later. The machine was cranked up to "Johan Santana" and as the pitches flew, someone at the station worked the phones. "Who's on the line?" "Tee Gentry." "Great, Tee, the next pitch is yours". Eventually Curt connected with one and that caller got tickets to a home game of the World Series. Which ain't a bad prize.
Masterpotato Theater
If you look at Youtube, seemingly half of the content is spoofs on movies or music videos.
Potatoes and other fruits and vegetables are funny.
So one possibility would be to do a mashup (sorry) of famous scenes from movies, acted or staged by costumed potatoes. Much like http://www.neatorama.com/2014/12/30/Taylor-Swifts-Greatest-Moments-Recreated-with-a-Potato/
More Prom Dress Prom-otions
From Joey Tack at Hot 104.5 in Knoxville:
TN School of Beauty hasn't advertised on Hot 104.5 for years. We were finally able to sell them the title sponsorship for our 'Dash For the Dress' prom event. The goal was to show them how Hot 104.5 is a perfect fit for the customers they are trying to reach. In addition to over delivering on liners and promos, we showed them a ton of love on-site at the 'Dash' event, throwing multiple shout outs to them on the mic, helping to set up their step n repeat banner, and projecting their logo on the huge wall behind 400 girls. The client noticed every detail and has since asked to renew their title sponsorship for the 2017 'Dash' event AND has now purchased our "On The Streets" sponsorship package. This is a huge win for us...and the reason we focus on the minor details.
Sing For Your Lunch
One of the stations has an actual dang(tm) American Idol semi-finalist as the midday talent. It would be way too easy to have her singing as part of a feature, so they're going to flip it and have listeners sing. For free food.
She'll take one caller a day, have them hold while she covers her eyes and stab a playlist of their catalogue of throwback music. Whatever she picks, that's the song the listener will need to sing some lyrics from to win a free lunch from a station client. And that will then be played in its entirety as their "Throwback Of The Day" feature.
