Ticket Blast
Probably half the contest methodologies in US radio originated at Power 96.
Cash Blast was billed as the world's easiest contest: all you had to do was get through on the studio line during a 20 minute period, have the DJ answer the phone, and you won $96. They started the contest sweep and after every song they would announce three or four more winners. Over a 20 minute period, they probably took 12 winners. But it SOUNDED like they took 90.
This has been done as Ticket Blast with stations that have a s-ton of tickets to give away and may be coming back somewhere this weekend with Demi/DJ Khaled tix.
Pothole Of The Day
John & Tammy at KSON in San Diego once hit Gold with "What is the slowest stop light in town?" People, in their cars, stuck in traffic, probably didn't have to think long and flooded stations social media with their choice.
If you live in places like the Twin Cities, or Detroit, a Pothole Of The Day feature would resonate because the season is upon us. Like Mojo is doing at Channel 95.5. https://channel955.iheart.com/featured/mojo-in-the-morning/content/2018-02-27-mojos-pothole-of-the-day/
Texas, Florida or Oklahoma
Every state has their Grudge State, ie, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Rush at 96.1 NOW-FM in San Antonio recaps drunk stupid criminal news from the weekend on Mondays and the contest is to guess which state they hail from. Done as "Black, White, Hispanic Or Other" at Power 96 in Miami. The hook was that they were always White.
Actual Dang Morning Show Features
From Dawson and Matt at K-Bear in Anchorage. I like the toaster one especially. http://www.kbrj.com/contests/640-game-gug/
