Spinners Choice
For the CBS SPF series in Las Vegas, Power in Miami used a theater of the mind slot machine that they had in the studio and that the staff had "liberated" from a casino cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale. The idea was that the hourly caller would get a yank and you would win whatever came up on the reels: concert tickets, swimwear, movie passes and once a day a flyaway.
One of the stations is in a market with several casinos in the region who all spend money and all have summer concert line ups. With one of these advertisers they're going to do the virtual slot: yank, hear the spinning and then three artists who are playing there this summer will "come up" on the reels. Night Ranger (with one original member), the Georgia Satellites, and Mickey Thomas' Star Ship. I can still rock in America so I'd choose Night Ranger and those would be the tickets I'd get.
3, 2, 1...Launch
DBC in Savannah rebranded two weeks ago and part of the attack John Marshall put together an intense summer street blitz of the market. And it should be noted that he stole the wagon from a drunken neighbor:
Since launch day of 5/28 we've been out 11 times at various events. So 11 out of 16 days we've been active outside of launch day.
Every other week we are hitting the beaches to hand out free soda and water. We are going to start "Hot Hits" next Friday where we hand out free Hot tank tops and other gear at random hot spots during the lunch hour every week. I've worked with local sports leagues to have us out at their games as well. Currently, I have a total of 23 events on the calendar not including the "Hot Hits" for the first month. I'm pretty happy about that.
It's a long battle as you know. Attached are photos of the first beach stop we did. We set up a garden wagon that I had in my backyard with a Bluetooth speaker which we played a station playlist off of and zip tied a Hot logo to the front of it. We walked around and handed out free drinks from a cooler given to us by Cheerwine on the beach for a couple hours and came away with these great pics.
This Will Ruin Your Day
Oldies in Petersborough is auditioning listeners to be their next Fugitive. This entry will crush your soul:
Why I would make the perfect fugitive!
I have worked in the downtown core since 2010, Monday to Friday, arriving around 7am until just after 4pm. As I arrive almost an hour before others in my office, I often see things that no one else does. I have to admit, I see some strange things, but most of the time I go unnoticed; and it has made me a people watcher!
I suffered a toxic chemical injury and was ill for a few years. I was forced live in isolation to recover. I have gained a lot of experience of retreating in large crowds, yet continue to search for ways to stay active and blending into my surroundings from a distance. I can escape crowds quickly.
I deal with the public everyday, yet blend into the walls. I deal with coworkers everyday, who come and go without ever noticing if I'm in my office. The only days they look for me is on my day off!
I make a couple of evening trips back to the city from my rural home to grocery shop and attend events in Peterborough, utilizing my handicapped parking, front and centre, yet still unnoticed.
I'm active in my community as a Scout Leader and teach various workshops throughout the year. I meet lots of people from various walks of life who would never suspect me as the fugitive!
Lunches and breaks, I walk the downtown, window shopping, or the trails. And take full advantage of the downtown farmers markets each week as my office is located a block away with full frontal glass windows.
Office politics has left me locked daily behind a glass wall, with my trusty radio locked on the Oldies 96.7 station as my only human contact from 7am to 4 each day. Since Administrative Assistance day comes and goes unnoticed, I'm sure I can secure the fugitive position in the office and not bring any suspicion. -
