The Cash Shed
The best promotions are so freaking local that it's hard to explain how great they are because you don't have the market context. Like in Newfoundland where just about every other house in the block has a shed. It's their fortress of solitude. Their place to escape. Which is why K-Rock has one as their station vehicle. And now they're sticking listeners in their to get grilled and win cash.
Out Score The Dancer
This is the seasonal football picks contest that Jammin' 107.7 does in New London. If you're picks beat the night shift at Mynx's, you win $100 in "Mynx money". As a Mennonite Youth Pastor, I'm intrigued. http://www.jammin1077.com/common/more.php?m=33&r=611
Beyond Reality Radio
This is a year-round podcast series at ALT 94/9 in San Diego. With October just a few weeks away, why couldn't this be a 'cast series theme for next month? https://alt949.radio.com/media/podcast/beyond-reality-radio
Fantasy Friday
(Has nothing to do with Mynx money) Before Oprah got preachy, every season she'd go and help some viewer live out their fantasy, like, dancing with the Rockettes or singing with some celebrity. I once got Jo Jo Wright to cheer a highschool football game under a similar premise. And on October 5th, Rob from Froggy 92.9 in Santa Rosa is going to run a passing pattern under the Friday night lights.
Which then raises the question, what have you always wanted to do that you could have fulfilled on a Friday morning.
Trim Your Teeth
If you have ventured down the Breast Christmas Ever route but not done Pimp Your Grill or any of the other myriad of dental reconstruction bits, how about giving some listener a great holiday present: a new smile? Whenever I've mentioned this contest to a station, I've warned them that the entries will NOT be pretty. The Promotion Director lost her gag reflex for about 18 months.
"The Oldywed Game"
The best jewelry giveaway is always "Desperate Ice Wives". But if the client is "conservative" or "more traditional" then this is a great, warm and fuzzy, promotion. I did the Dating Game at a mall with listeners asking and answering questions to/from modeling school students on the other side of a partition. The set up was beautifully built and totally mirrored the old show. It was very very successful and technically NOT prostitution since they were only doing it for credit.
The Concept
Anyone who has been married for any length of time will attest to the fact that you still are always learning about your partner. You solicit for and pick five couples though TBD contesting, but probably a mix of web and morning show.
At a mall or appropriate venue a stage is set up and the five couples participate in a competition that has the various genders exiting to a controlled space while their spouses are asked questions about them, like, "Nickname In Grade School", "Birthmarks", "Shoe size" and "College roommate's name". Two rounds with each gender and the highest point getters get the jewelry. There should be "Fabulous parting gifts" for the other couples.
Potential Clients
Malls, jewelers, vacation packages, restaurants.
