Great Moments In Station TV Spots
Thank you to James Cridland for sharing this and I like his phrasing: The UK's new Capital FM television ad, aired in the middle of the X Factor. Highlights on-air talent, unrivalled access to artists, and Capital's multi-platform output. Doesn't highlight a tired and meaningless music proposition.
Picture Find
I focus grouped this on Facebook over the weekend and it tested better than an auto-post about Sia's new lipstick.
Not that you'd want to stick something on your site or social media that would suck people in and have them staring and dissecting it for hours, but what the heck. "Hi Lites" magazine had a "find the hidden images" page that sucked in a million kids as they waited at the doctor's office. But then Gallant had to go and get all holier-than-thou and I stopped reading it.
This has 72 artists that that station plays in this image. Good luck.

The Millionth Request
You know how theme parks, malls, grocery stores and other high traffic clients will sometimes honor the "millionth customer" with a big surprise on the unsuspecting customer? One of the stations is doing The Millionth Request. They've been tracking the calls and soon, very soon, the millionth will come through. That person is going to get picked up, brought to the station and loaded down with prizes including a trip to see Rihanna in London.
Home & Garden Expos
Appear to be back with a vengeance. Two stations in the past week have needed "stuff". From the perspective of a dad, these are brutal things to take a couple of little kids to. So, why not do something for the kids who get dragged to this thing. Come to our booth and get an Eye Spy sheet and a crayon. They walk/are dragged around with their parents and look for stuff like "a bird house", "A roll of sod", "A man on a ladder". X them off and bring it back to the station booth for a balloon or a piece of candy as they leave. It's the same concept as car games to keep the kids occupied on driving trips.
Turkey Shoot
This came up in a brainstorming session yesterday with a PD whowas telling me about how he'd done it at another station.
Basically, you take the morning person, you dress them as a turkey and let them loose on a ballfield or other ""wide open space". Listeners can buy five paintballs for five bucks and try to shoot him. Hit him and win a turkey or something else. All the money of course would go to charity.
Also, when doing anything like this, we want the recap video to be slowed down ala AFV and exaggerated "Ooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhs" and close-ups of the pellets popping on him.
