Show Us Your Junk
The American Cancer Society used to do this very very definitely Minnesotan event called The World's Largest Garage Sale where they would spend several months soliciting donations from the public, these would be sorted and made presentable and then sold in a giant frenzy of people looking for deals. A couple of hundred people would sleep out every year just to be the first in the door.
A few of the clusters like Entercom in Las Vegas have taken this and turned it into NTR. https://kluc.radio.com/events/great-garage-antique-sale
Split Or Steal
This is a great contest methodology that pits two listeners against each other on whether they want to split a prize or try to screw the other person. K-97 in Edmonton is doing it with their "40 Hours To Vegas" flyaway and if the callers decide to "split", they're sharing a room with each other. Here is C-103 in Moncton's version. https://www.c103.com/split-or-steal/
#worksearch
Mix in Cincinnati has always done a great of engaging the atwork listeners with time-killer games and activities. This is kind of a version of Office Bingo that their sister station Q-102 once did. https://www.949cincinnati.com/949-contest/play-worksearch-at-your-job/
Peeping The Competition
You should kind of always be up to speed on what the other stations are doing. In fact, every month the GSM at KGGI would assign a station to monitor, on site, to an AE. What are their games? How long do the remotes run? How many people work them? What's their set up?
One of the clusters, gearing up for the Summer, is having a field day with the promo teams next week. And before that, they're going to go and shoot video of their competitors and what they're doing. Kind of a Goofus & Gallant lesson on "Goofus is standing behind the table texting. Gallant is standing out front engaging people as they walk past." The promo team is a very visual age group.
