Free Food
When an advertiser requests, "Do something that will get us foot traffic", you really don't need to look further than free food. One of the Saga stations had a portable (haulable like a trailer) grill that they would bring to remotes, plug in and start churning out the 'dogs. And they would get HUNDREDS of people showing up at a Rite Aid for a Summers Eve 'cast.

Digital Contesting
I'm always trolling prize pig sites like https://sweepstakesfanatics.com/ to see what other brands are doing with contesting on their sites and social media.
American Airlines and Travel Channel pretty consistently will do things that are more involved than inputting your name and hitting submit. HelloWorld actually builds some great stuff for their clients. This is one of their case studies. It's a cruise ship. There's SO much to do and explore, and they did.

Blame It On The Dog
When Dom was at 92.3 in NY and people were listening to it, they did Commercial Free Mondays and really had fun with the imaging. They had a promo from socialists declaring that commercials should be banned because it's just air and air should be free. They experimented with Subliminal Marketing Sunday where barely legible advertising messages were masked into songs. And then they did a promo where their dog had eaten the commercials.
One of the stations has Chainsmokers and 5SOS tickets and was looking for a weekend theme: no one has ever had the prizes eaten by the dog. KDWB had N'Sync tickets get deleted by a virus. Power in Miami had Nigerian hackers steal their cash. Then you just have your friendly Promotional Veterinarian "retrieve" the tickets every hour and preface the contest that the tickets WILL be slightly chewed but you talked to the arena and they promise to take them.
