CPR Promotional Check-Up - Jun 28, 2019
June 28, 2019
Have an opinion? Add your comment below. Summer is here and it's time to get into the great outdoors. Dierks did that this week and broke bones in his left arm. On holiday in Colorado with his family. DB says he drinks with this right arm, so it's okay

Six Degrees Of (Talent)
One of the stations' morning show is coming up on their 20th anniversary. The anniversary is cool but the thing that has really established them is that they have had an overwhelming presence in the community. Seemingly everyone knows someone who has met them, if they haven't in fact met them themselves. John Hines at 'CCO in the Twin Cities was that way. Dollar Bill at The Bull in Birmingham is that way. Rob & Joss when they were at Froggy. Chet Buchanan. Orlando Davis. Jeff & Jenn at Q in Cincy.
If you have one of those jocks, then create a bracket on the site and let people have fun filling it out. "We'll trust that you're not just making stuff up to win a pair of movie tickets..."
- I met someone at Skyline Chili in Cincinnati who went to elementary school with a cop from Covington.
- The cop's son mowed the lawn of my neighbor.
- My neighbor is a realtor who sold a house to a guy who works at a bank.
- He approved the car loan for the daughter of a lady who sells tropical fish.
- A sales person from Q-102 sold her a remote
- The Sales lady works with Jeff and Jenn.
Also done as Sex Degrees Of Separation where you attempt to connect yourself to a celebrity? Me? Three steps away from a former Presidential candidate.
Obviously, As A Mennonite Youth Pastor, This Deeply Offends Me
"If we did not have free pizza, would people attend Sales remotes?" - Rene' Descartes, 1648.
Radio discovered a long time ago that "free food" was the ultimate social influencer. It has the power to engage and motivate people.
94/9 in San Diego has done series of Random Acts Of Food where they set up a big catering tent and just feed people. It makes Woodstock look like a Cub Scout picnic.
C-103 in Moncton does it with sausages. https://www.c103.com/events/215958/
Disaster Do's
From Bo Matthews at Alpha Media in Dayton where they went through some excitement last month.
Do Have a local news plan setup so that when a disaster hits, you can execute the plan.
Do Line up interviews with City officials. City Mayors, councilman, and anyone else that can give important information to your listeners. Record the interviews. Play them several times while the information is still current. Place them on your websites, and also share on socials.
Do Reach out to your TV partner. If you don't have a local morning show or news team on your radio station, allow that TV partnership to be your news crew. If you are in the middle of the crisis, work out a deal that will allow you to play the LIVE TV AUDIO on your airwaves.
Do If Safe, send staff members out to take pictures of the damage, or see if anyone that works at the station is close to the affected areas. The front desk lady... she is now a reporter. Have them send you cell phone pics that you can use on your social media. Ask them questions on the air about what they see. Allow them to be your eyes.
Do Post all updates that you get from the city - same as you would announce this info on the air, also post on your websites and socials. (Water boil advisory, power outage info, requests from police/officials to stay clear of certain areas)
Do Create a google drive in your cluster with everything. Have a folder for pictures. Have a folder for local contacts. (Power/Light companies, Humane Societies, Foodbanks) Have cell phones and emergency numbers for these people. In a time of crisis, it's been a challenge to call places and get someone on the phone. Getting the front desk number will get you nowhere fast.
Do Record messages that you can run on all stations informing the public of WHERE the shelters are.
