Great Moments In Brilliant Marketing
Being from Minnesota, I look at Promotions as kind of like fishing. There are 3.6 million fish in this lake and there are a few thousand that we need to catch.
You can plop down over a hole filled with fish (the metro area) and with all of the other fishers on the lake cast away. But we forget that outlying areas of the lake have fish (btw, I mean meters) and no one ever putts out there to drop a line. Which is kind of stupid since you have no competition and just cast away all day long.
Hopefully that made sense.
That's why shows like Mojo, Donnie Simpson back in the day, John and Tammy at KSON and The Wolf in Greensboro go out to these locales and market themselves and the brand with impunity. Being in Promotions, I'd go out to places like Isanti and Zimmerman and Hutchinson and people would remark things like "Oh ya, I tink it was Boone and Erickson from da Good Neighbor who was out here in '74, doncha know..."

Office Hottie
It's back and about to start somewhere. This started at The Beat in Vancouver as a casual observation that "You know, every office has a hot employee." Bing. Bang. Boom. It was up the next day. It's been done at KLUC, Hot in Ottawa, Hot in Houston, Radiowave in Windhoek and is basically an on-line beauty pageant. The winning Hottie scores(tm) a prize that can be used by the entire workplace, like a day out at a ball game with a catered lunch.
