1. When meeting with the morning shows we always cover character development and how you can look at great sitcoms and see how it happened. The 1st season of Seinfeld was kind of a mash up as everyone figured out who they were. George was actually successful. By season 2 you knew that Jerry was a neat freak, George was kind of a loser, Elaine had poor taste in men. If you listen to Elizabethany on Hot 99.5 in DC, you know she's kinda sporty and loves to cook. Kennedy at Mix in Boston has a pathological fear of aluminum foil. And Ice at Live in Portland LOVES CHEESE.
2. All group contests sound the same. It's true. $1000 can be more than $1000. It could be "$1000 in sod...or the cash equivalent." In Edmonton they took a $2500 cash prize and made it "Win Gas For A Year." It was huge. It stood out.

Short Attention Span Smack

Kind of like group contests, LOTS of radio "celebrity gossip features" kind of blur together. A lot of us are doing the same thing with basically the same titles and names. With some exceptions.

The Wheel Of Gift Cards

We're always looking for something, a hook, that will stand out and get people to attend our appearances.

When he was at Fly 92, Terry O'Donnell did The Amazing Box Of Potential Awesomeness. It was at every remote and everyone who attended registered for what was inside....which was revealed at the end of the broadcast. It could be movie tickets. A medium size t-shirt from a client promotion three summers ago. Tickets to a concert. You just never knew.

People. Love. Giftcards. So what if you worked a prize fee into your remote package, by a bunch of various gift cards and cover a wheel with them. Every five minutes during your appearance have a listener spin. If it lands on an occupied square, they win it. If it was already won, they spin until they get something.
