CPR Promotional Check-Up - Aug 28, 2019
August 28, 2019
Have an opinion? Add your comment below. I'm not suggesting you attack other stations on your social media but you should have some personality and not just be this wallpaper of generic spam. The receptionist at 102 Jamz handled their Facebook for a while. She was FUNNY. People visited and checked in often to see what she was commenting, posting and replying. And then corporate required only the local digital people have access, and their numbers remained stuck at 42,000 for four years. Fail

"The Only Reason To Do Contests? Is To Make Winner Promos" - Jerry Clifton
"We don't do winner promos because they don't work in PPM". From a PD who's CHR was being beaten in teens by a Sports station.
Vehicular Attention Getter
Rule #1. Always drive the station vehicle in the left lane with the headlights on. Why? So that people will notice you. Caveat? There's only one lane in each direction? Do not do this. Caviar? Fish eggs.
This is stupid but it would work. https://www.facebook.com/wipertags/videos/1203771252991438/
At WIOG in Saginaw we did this and it got honks and waves and smiles. We...activated commuters.
Imaging
It's always nice to hear what other stations are doing. From Chris Cole at Power in Atlanta https://soundcloud.com/audiofreakcreative/wwpw-radio-imaging-art-junejuly-2017

Pout It Out
This was a very cool "thing" that the always cool Radiowave in Windhoek was involved with. Essentally a makeup artist awarded makeovers to people who can't afford them and are self-conscious because of any number of reasons. (The Pout part is due to the name of the makeup she uses)
Going into September and with so many kids with horrible self-worth because of acne and other "things that can be worked with", what if you did a bunch of these for kids. Parents or teachers alert the station and the kid gets an Oprah-like surprise. Maybe have other clients come on board for clothes and shoes. It can be done anonymously or if the kid is cool with it, spotlight their transformation.
THIS is an amazing warm and fuzzy
(Market) Mommies
"Single mothers in the HOUSE...!!!" I would really suck as a club DJ
This has been done several different ways but the basic concept is kind of like Christmas Wish. The audience tips you to single mothers who are getting the kids to school, putting food on the table, helping with homework, taking them to practice and are seemingly un-appreciated.
Every week the station selects a woman, they call her up on Friday morning, they read the letter that they got from her friend, kid, coworker, neighbor, and she ends up crying. They then recognize her love and commitment to her family by awarding her with a large assortment of gifts and services from clients.
At one station we focus grouped this with women and the #1 place that they would have loved a giftcard from? Target. Best service they could win? Time at a spa.
