This was 96.1 NOW-FM/San Antonio's set-up at his show last month.
File This For Next Year
You should get a Ouija board and have the dead give you your hourly keywords for whatever text contest you have.
And if you have a grand prize draw, why not do it with a pumpkin filled with balls and filled with gross stuff, as done by C-103 in Moncton. Start at 2:41. https://www.facebook.com/newcountry969/videos/957914307904425/
Phone Juice
One of the morning shows hit gold with a topic about a woman who was complaining that her boyfriend was not attractive enough for her.
You REALLY want a hot button? Kids. I worked with a woman whose long time boyfriend had kids from his first marriage and she wouldn't marry him because his kids were ugly. (Her term) That? That would blow out the phone system.
Last Call/Last Comment
"Last Comment" as a social media contest is huge, and it's great, and a few of the companies have forbade it. So maybe look at "Last Call" as an option.
One of the companies that doesn't block the promotion is selling a fairly ginormous package of prizes for 2016, to be given away at midnight on New Years Eve. The concept is simple. The LAST person to comment in 2015, gets the prize. Is there a possibility that 100,000 people trying to comment at the same time could eff up Facebook for a couple of minutes? We could only HOPE that CNN would lead with "And (station) in (market) caused a major disruption to social media at the stroke of midnight..."
Much like when KCBQ did The Last Contest and crashed phone service to a huge part of San Diego.
The safer legal-compliant option since everyone will be drinking anyway, is to take a caller exactly at 11:59:59.
Fast Money, Quick ("No Credit? No Problem!")
We are heading into a time of the year where you may find yourself needing to raise a lot of money, quickly. The "play an annoying song until we get enough pledges" bit will do that. With "Achy Breakey Heart", Kiss in Charlotte raised $10,000 by 9 am.
"Christmas Shoes" is THE most annoying and mocked of the holiday songs. You would hit your goal in about five minutes.
