I spend a tremendous number of nights in hotel rooms so in addition to getting caught up on C-Span, I like to troll on-line contests and see what other brands do. You should take a night a quarter and just look around. This is a great site for "professional contest players" to find updated lists of promotions.

One of the things that a lot of these contests will offer is/are bonus points. Share this contest on your social media and get 5 bonus points. Refer a friend and get a bonus point. Like us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and get ten points each.

KS95 in the Twin Cities did it with "Win Crisco's Cash" last year. Refer a friend and if either of you win, you split it with them.

The Travel Channel does great contests. There's usually a second step to it, like, "ID the beach and get an extra entry". This one just tests your Travel Channel knowledge before accepting your entry.

One of the things we do at Street School is teach the promo team, when they're asked for a shirt, to ask the person a question like "Rico got what on Christmas Eve from a sales person?" If they know it was a bottle of booze for cutting a last minute spot, boom, they get the shirt.

Why now do that with your "submit your email to win" contests? Actually reward people for listening to the radio or following your stories (like Rico with the booze) on social media.

Retro Bedroom Walls

If you are a station that is prone to playing music from the 70's and 80's OR you are a station where your listeners were teens in the 70's and 80's, why not do a gallery of listener-submitted shots of their old posters and other décor? Abruary

Radio has done a pretty good job of "hot" submit/post/vote galleries. Hot Moms. Hot Popo (CBS in Phoenix). Office Hotties. Hot Lifeguards (Townsquare in Shreveport when it was GAP).

But we've kind of focused on one gender. B-96 in Chicago did Abtober and yes, women sent in photos of their hunky guys for a gallery contest. Isabel from CPR/Vancouver sent in a photo of me.

February has the Super Game and Valentines, but this could be a nice off-air NTR thing. There's no reason to not have six or seven clients on this.
