Science!
There was a station in BC a few years ago that promoted a new “tone” that had been embedded in their signal that mosquitos found to be annoying. “So just take us with you, play us out and don’t get bit once this Summer”.
Troy McCallum did that with Thermal Audio two years ago at Boom in Toronto. Same concept: the station warmed you while you listened.

Happy Flu Year!
A brief perusal of social media over the past week would indicate that a lot of people are down with it (and not in a 1970’s “I’m down with what you’re saying” kind of way).
You can reference it with some Googlizing or with some imaging.

You can never go wrong with a surgical mask.
And this is brilliant and immediately stealable. https://soundcloud.com/cprpromo/flu-season-call-in-sick-with-dr-kevin
Other Sales Stuff
It’s been a busy week in AE Land.
Spam Or Scam Hormel is coming down the pipe at one of the stations. Spam Or Scam would be an on-line contest. DJ posts an email he/she got and you have to ID it as being genuine spam or just something fake he wrote up.
Cube Raiders This was in relation to a sports team called the Raiders, but could be done with pretty much any client that targets people in the workplace. Kennedy at Mix in Boston used to do something called “Let’s Make A Glove Compartment Deal” at her remotes. She’d name an item, people would dash to their cars and the first person to find one and bring it back, would win a CD or movie tickets. Same thing essentially. You name an item most often found in an office and the first workplace to email in a photo of one, wins the all-staff lunch or whatever.
Single Mom Business Start Up One of the stations has a “business to business” client that does things like design websites. The concept would be to find a single mom, starting her own home business and design a website and maybe even run a couple of spots for her. Single moms are the ultimate hot button. This could really become a huge morning show thing. Interview, select and then help them start a successful business. Multiple client aps.
Floorsarch Test A station has a flooring and tile expert. Obviously there are like a million flooring and tile morning show features. Too many to even write down. But another angle would be to do a version of an on-line caption contest. You spill chocolate syrup, ketchup or something else on the ground and take submissions: “I think it looks like Kim Jong Il on the Tilt A Whirl at the Washington County Fair.” You pick one and they win.
Caption contests tazer the webhits.
