Amber Alerts
As exciting as “Cardi B’s new beach photos have fans worried” is, we can also do other stuff with our social media. If you aren’t set up to auto-post Amber Alerts, you should be. The whole “we-have-this-thing-called-a-license” thing. KJ-103 in OKC had a local Amber Alert yesterday morning “up” on their Facebook before law enforcement could tweet/post.
Movies, Films, Flicks
Movies are the Entertainment Universal: just about everyone enjoys watching a movie of some genre. So it was pretty funny that Steve from myTalk 107.1 in the Twin Cities got busted by a friend who played “Hooker #2” in “Fargo” for never having sat through it. Which is grounds for getting expelled to Wisconsin. https://www.mytalk1071.com/futurishared/24280/
Try testing “What great movie that everyone has seen, didn’t you?” For me? Exorcist, Empire Strikes Back, Grease and ET. So, test that as a juice starter on Facebook.
Next level? Find one of these films that one of the morning show missed and do a screening in the performance studio with listeners who also were in prison or otherwise unable to see it when it was out. Sell in a client to feed everyone.
Shoesday
Stations like Jammin’ in New London and Mix in Cincy know what kind of response you get from doing an event based around awarding free shoes. An iHeart CHR is doing that as Shoesday every Tuesday in February. Boom.
For Your Social Media
The file name is pretty accurate.
Free Contacts
We can over-think prizing as evidenced when The Wolf in Greensboro took $300 in cash a day and framed it as “win school lunches for a year for your kid.” Double boom.
A station somewhere is about to celebrate the New Year with giving away 2020 vision: free contact lenses for a year.
February 29th
This will be the trending thing that day, so I’d have something ready to go so you don’t miss it.
Leap Year Resolutions: have listeners create a list of things they need to start and stop in one day, ie: try. Like vaping or gambling or being Vegan
It's a couple of weeks after Valentines. Do the 24 Hour Wedding. Marry people at 9 am and then divorce them at 9 pm. This would be an anniversary they only need to regret every ten years.
