3 Minute Concert Recaps
This was a brilliant idea that came up in a meeting on Tuesday. Most stations make the mistake and leave the concert venue once everyone is inside, completely abandoning the chance to work the happy, giddy, inebriated people as they leave. What if you compiled and posted a quick video of people recapping the show and their favorite parts while they’re still high from the experience.
A Moment On Moments Of Silence
KIIS in LA did one for Kobe. Cool. It’s a great way to honor a person or an event.
A moment of silence in the studio is dead air. If you have the right situation to do something like this, you want one out in the community. You want it for the ambient sounds. It’s just….dramatic. I was part of one for the second anniversary of the Loma Prieta Earthquake and to hear a market of millions of people suddenly go quiet….was chilling. Followed by hundreds of churches ringing their bells. Tommy Chuck from ‘FLZs future wife (he really overkicked the coverage) was KDWB’s “person” with a cell phone at the 35W bridge site on the first anniversary and at 6:15 pm…the city went silent. Alli, being a nice person, bowed her head. And a stringer for UPI spun around, snapped her pic and she ended up in 400 newspapers with the logo BOOM right there. That was the bonus. The on-air part was great radio.
Great Moments In AR Filter
From Gabe at Mix in Canton: No doubt you've seen the 'which
are you?' on Instagram. I figured why not take a stab and have a little fun? I tried three different filter types which Facebook kept rejecting cause they are arbitrary but I think stations can have a lot of fun with AR, at least while the trend lasts. This is a simple first run but I'm already working on a couple more great localized concepts! The link to use the filter is currently the link in our profile bio. https://youtu.be/I86NsEkqgWA
Trolling Clients
One of the stations is involved with a charity event hosted by an athletes foundation. They’re going to see what local businesses and are supportive of the foundation and use it as an “in” for future opportunities.
My favorite AE was named Meg and she was great because she was a sincerely nice person and inevitably became really good friends with her clients. Socialized with them and their families and would support things like their kids’ youth sports programs and things like that. She didn’t do it because she was a sleeze. She was just being Meg. That’s who she is.
It wouldn’t be entirely stupid to put together a hit list of 50 local business people and turn it over to someone to go through their social media. Just a quick scroll back through Bob The Car Dealers
Facebook page to see if anything jumps out. Like he volunteers with the Lions. Or his daughter is in choir and did a car wash at his place to raise funds for their DC trip. This is good stuff to know. Sneaky but good.
