Best “Food Delivery Name” For 2020 (So Far)
This lofty award goes to Rob Taylor from KxKy in San Diego where he suggests marrying the Q-105 Undercover Office campaign with a seafood restaurant.
The Tampa contest was based on:
- Tell us where you listen.
- We’ll pop in unannounced.
- If you’re listening, you and all your coworkers get fed on the spot.
Rob said that with seafood, it would be “Catch Of The Day”. He wins.
Smart Cars
One of the stations has one to give away. They’re kinda cool but would rate them as being in the Organ Doner category of survivable car crashes. If you got one, you could:
- Do the “Doomed Groom”. Get five of them just for contesting purposes. Put a guy and his future Mother-in-Law in each car and they live there until everyone but one pair drop out. Dude wins a wedding. Mom wins the car.
- Do “Are Your Smarter Then A Radio Account Executive?” Take a caller, step out into the Sales area, grab an AE, and ask them each a question. Beat the AE and qualify.
- Stars Cars has been done to death. With a Smart Car, the only true celebrity small enough for the role would be Vern Troyer.
- What about “Waste Management Idol”? You get ten garbage truck drivers who are each assigned to a listener. They drive, timed, an obstacle course and have to parallel park their truck. Best time. Fewest knocked over cones, wins for the listener.
Event Set-Ups
This is the time of year to review your sites, your social media, jock bios, event set-ups and everything else that might need updating. (And BTW: I saw a bio last week where it said “(talent) was born to be in Radio. He came out of the womb and hit the post.” No one knows what “hit the post” means. Always steer clear of Radioisms that are lost on the audience.)
There are a few stations that really stand out and Z-95.3 in Vancouver is one of them. Taryn Stephenson was their “visual” person and has some suggestions:
- I think the first thing you need is a hop up backdrop or step and repeat. This will ensure your logo makes it in every shot and will look very tidy. Also fans of the station LOVE to pose in front of these Red Carpet style. - I would also invest in a custom gobo and projector. This way your logo can be projected as large as a skyscraper (guerilla style) or spin about on the floor of an event.
