“Betty & Veronica Comic Books”
Elizabethany with Hot 99.5 in DC has a pretty consistent record of posting good thread-starter questions on social media. This one from yesterday took off: “What were you hiding that your parents ended up finding.”
Balentimes
One of my favorite air talent, Erin Buchwald created a fake band called Touch Pocket. Why? Meet her and you’ll understand. And for the same reason that I created a fake social media network called Penga. She even had a band logo. When she got bored she’d comment about snagging tickets to see Touch Pocket in Boston or whatever. Her friends who were in on it would then chime in and talk about catching them on Letterman and they killed.
Lucy Lopez and her cohost at Power in Miami have created their own German pop duo called Flanderpuss. And this is their ode to Balentimes. https://www.instagram.com/tv/B8d1nJdJnE7/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
What Do You See At 7:23?
Star in Pittsburgh did a one-time thing where they just asked everyone to quick snap and post what they were doing at 9 am. If you had a client that needed a hashtag thing, maybe that’s your AM feature. Whatever you’re doing at 7:23, snap and share and hopefully snag some goodies.
Pie Gate
I was introduced to the concept of the “story arch” by Jerry Clifton my first week at Kiss 102 in 1989. We were going to lead a caravan of cars to present a petition to the NFL to award a team to the Carolinas. He asked what was the plotline? Who were the characters? How was it going to end? Were there going to be any plot twists like road blocks of cops to prevent us from reaching our destination? He said that GREAT promotions or bits have a story arch. There’s a beginning, a middle and an end. A great example would the launch of Wild in Tampa with Josh and Brian. 22 years later people still remember their names. The Fugitive is an even bigger and grander example.
Someone ate the Colleen and Bradley’s pie at myTalk in the Twin Cities and they’re on the hunt for the perp. https://www.mytalk1071.com/piegate2020-interview-witnesses/
And The Yummy Bunny Hops On
99.7 DJX in Louisville is the latest station to challenge the audience to understand what song is being sung by someone with a mouthful of marshmallows to win Bieber tickets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkNIo-PJTXE#action=share
