Mary, Esther & Karen

Having a girls name is something that I’ve finally come to grips with in the past couple of years. (My Freshman year I was assigned to a Woman’s dorm, which was a mistake they sadly caught on move-in day) It’s really been the gift that keeps on giving.

Mary Looking ten months down the line, Hot in Ottawa has done “Mary Christmas”. Find someone whose first, last or middle name is “Mary” and bring her (or him) to a cattle call for a shot at winning $10,000

Esther Well, why not do that on April 11th, the day before Easter. But with Esthers. And since there are decidedly fewer Esthers out there, it will be more challenging and perhaps get you some press as every Esther in the surveyed region is getting barraged with requests for a lunch date.

Karen If your name is “Karen”, it has not been an easy time recently.

You could do “Karen-oke” and have listeners do agitated versions of the already agitated “You Oughta Know”. Or, if you have Write A Song Wednesday in your repertoire, then do a version called “I Want To Speak To Your Manager.” Or just have listeners share their own and friends/coworkers “Karen hairstyles”.
