Celebrity Endorsement For Pennies
Thank you to Mike Campbell with K-Rock in St. Johns who shares cameo.com with us after getting a couple of birthday messages courtesy of his brother. https://www.cameo.com/v/n7JKvQVUy and https://www.cameo.com/v/FBEzMJVHf
You can get celebs to send messages, maybe do an endorsement, help a listener suck up, beg for forgiveness, propose and ask for a raise. Or even announce that they’re pregnant.
I’m booking Melissa Joan Hart for my birthday. https://www.cameo.com/
In The Beginning, There Was Shock Collar Karaoke
These guys have tens of millions of youtube hits, so they clearly have stumbled on something when it comes to providing entertaining content and getting people to market them to friends and family. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIrIOOE_mXM
The Reason To Do Contests
For the payoff. I sat in a taping of The Price Is Right and they did short interviews of everyone in line. They were subtly probing for how geeked and excited the people would be if their name was called. Because if they call “Greg Strassell, c’mon down!” and Greg strolls casually up to his spot and says “It’s very nice to be here Bob…” that would be boring. (And for the record, Greg would scream and yell and trample people and drop f bombs)
So Q in Fayetteville, like many many many other stations, did the “Find a choir to sing on stage with Foreigner” contest. This was them surprising the winning school. https://www.facebook.com/Q98FM/videos/1168849539881092/
This was a letter from a guy with Foreigner:
Jeff! I watched the entire video….that’s the coolest announcement from a station to a choir that we’ve ever had in eight years of doing this. I’ve worked 600 shows in securing a choir for the band. next time you’re headed to Vegas, let me know…lunch or dinner on me
What’s In Your Drawers
This came up during a morning show meeting on Friday when we were talking about “universals”. Things that apply to a majority of the listening audience.
And one if universal is that people have, well, stuff. Concert ticket stubs. Old matchbooks. Old keychains. Stuff.
