Can’t Touch This, v2
John & Tammy at KSON in San Diego tackle the topic of face touching and how it’s pretty much impossible to not touch it. https://kson.radio.com/blogs/john-tammy-in-the-morning/can-you-not-touch-your-face
Coachella In Your Family Room
Here is something that came up three times (or “thrice” for the old folks) yesterday. With events like Ultra cancelling, what if you did your own mix show or music event and stream it with lights? So I pull out my (insert alcohol or legal drug here), get every phone, device and tablet in my place, put them strategically around the room, attach to speakers if possible, turn down the lights and trip balls.
Hand Washing
Chet and Kayla at KLUC in Las Vegas did a reminder on handwashing https://kluc.radio.com/blogs/kayla/tips-how-to-avoid-the-coronavirus
Kane once did texts to the database in the morning to remind them to take their birth control pills. What if you did e-notifications throughout the day to go and wash again.
Minnesotans are pigmentally challenged so the CHR here, on a great summer weekend, played an occasional “ding” and a calm voice reminded listeners to roll over and apply more SPF2000.
Coronavirus Cancellations
I was trading emails with a station yesterday where we were discussing all of the cancellations and how they are going to increase dramatically. In Minnesota, with blizzards, Radio has always been right there with TV in terms of closure information.
Event cancellations, business closures, service disruptions are about to increase many times over. And schools obviously.
Said-station is going to work with their TV partner and create a databank with all of this info.
You should do this.
The challenge is going to be getting this info as it becomes available. Working with a media partner would be great. Have them do the heavy lifting.
Another option would be to find that ONE promo person that every station has. They’re bright. They work hard. They don’t need to be given directions twice….and hand this to them. They need to mine social media, TV sites, print media sites and also reach out to local events and ask for updates. Nothing gets posted unless they have confirmed it.
This could be a very large public service feature to help keep people updated as we get through the next 60 days.
