A Novel Concept: Opening Up The Phones

During the Rodney King riots in LA I heard Power 106 in LA just turn off the music and open up the phones because, sometimes, people just need to talk. Radio WAS the first social media and we can occasionally provide that place for people to be heard.

So Orlando at WiLD in Tampa broke every Selector Geek Rule and just opened the phones on Wednesday.

Speaking Of Recent Grads

Drive thru graduations have started and John & Tammy from KSON in San Diego went out and were part of one on Wednesday:

So John and I took part in a drive through graduation at a local high school....they had all the seniors pictures along the school fence, they students drove through, stopped and took pictures with their senior pic, then the cardboard cutout of their principle...over 300 students...we did a facebook live for some of it...lots of shares and views! Ciro Sepulveda at Entercom in San Diego has already tested one of the wheels on his site, which shows that this could be more than just something for events. Two years ago one of the beer brands had a prize wheel on their site. Once you had created a password, you could log in every day for a spin. It was kind…of addictive. Though I never won any swag or discounts or product or the trip they were offering. And as with all of these wheels, the slots are changeable, could be sold and updated every day if needed.

The always cool Jammin’ 107.7 in New London is creating a summer program next week that will have daily activities for kids (and parents) who are suddenly left with everything cancelled and a lot of time on their hands.
