The Renaissance Fest
Surprisingly this is going to happen this Fall in a few market and in Dayton, they approached Alpha for promotions.
You could do a Friend-assance Festival and help reacquaint old friends post-lockdown by giving them enough tickets to take them and their families.
At my highschool you wanted Everett Anderson for English Lit because he culminated the academic year with an Elizabethan feast where everyone dressed in costume and they gorged themselves on cider and a pig roasted on a spit. What if you delivered that in costume to an office?
The BEST Production Director that I ever had the fortune to work with has been Bob and Sheri’s producer for about 20 years. He used to do a character called “Maximillion” who was an out of work Shakespearian actor who would do dramatic recitations of “popular poetry” and read lyrics to rap songs. You have not lived until you’ve heard Public Enemy done with an over-the-top accent. So Bo Matthews is taking a crack at that.
Best Flipping Dad
Starts today at 101.5 K-Hits in Sacramento where they’re having people post/share/submit pics of their dads flipping something. Great imaging too.
Car Dealers
They have begun to trickle back and thanks to the beauty of Facebook Live, stations like BOB 95 in Fargo can show off the merch without me having to get in my car and drive all the way across town.
There are going to be variations of parades this summer but probably different from what you’re used to seeing. If you can get a couple of cars from a client for your airstaff to put some front line heroes in (preceded and followed by station vehicles) that would be a great hook and a great showcase.
Is there a better place to turn up the radio and sing at the top of your lungs? NO. So do Car-eoke and have people/families shoot and post video of singing in their cars to win a prize either sponsored by a dealer or maybe some service from a dealer.
Speaking of service, have a client host a Facebook Live car care clinic in their service department. Just three or four minutes of basic tips that pretty much anyone can do to keep their cars in shape for the summer.
The beauty of dealerships is that they have SPACE, so one of the St. Louis stations did a mini Food Truck Fest at a dealership. Packed it.
Also, we’re heading into the season when high school groups and organizations will do fundraising car washes. Host a few at a dealership.
ave the client host a video series of things that you can do within an hour or two drive from the market. People are going to be sticking a little closer to home this summer and will be looking for recreational opps nearby.
Okay…in terms of testimonials…really…no one believes that someone who is in showbiz (us, in their view) would voluntarily choose to hang out with a car dealer. Sorry. So when the talent says “My friends as Nienaber Nissan…” the audience knows they’re getting paid to say that.
So what if you have the talent’s dog do a testimonial? That would be a hook and promotions is about having a hook that will allow a message to cut through the clutter. And who loves a car ride more than a dog? No one.
And since the listeners generally believe you are overpaid and over-privileged, Mark Adams did something at Hot in Houston that killed: he created The Mommy Bloggers. The client wanted to give each of the airstaff a car to drive and talk about. Mark understood that no one would care so he found five women from varying backgrounds and life-stories (single mom, working mom, stay at home mom, etc.) and THEY were the ones that drove and authoritatively discussed how having this car made their life easier, simpler, faster, whatever.
