And More Virtual Remotes
Max Schaeffer at iHeart in Des Moines chimes in and adds on to Live 95.5/Portland’s virtual remotes that they’ve switched to during COVID-19, and please note the last line:
I did 2 virtual remotes on 100.3 THE BUS this weekend. Pre-recorded the remote breaks earlier in the week. Visited one of the clients earlier in the week and recorded actual interviews, and then live social video, photos, more videos. Friday night’s Fireworks Show at the local casino/racetrack – more than 10,000 social impressions, including 2445 views of the fireworks show live on Facebook. Saturday’s Goodguys’ Car Show at the fairgrounds – over 10,000, including more than 2,100 views of a live Facebook video tour. We were already moving away from the standard tent and table to prerecorded remote breaks with clients, signage and appearance at the event or location, with talent walk around, interaction with customers and tons of on-the-spot-socials. SALES LOVES IT.
Insta Hunt
This is something that Scott MacKenzie shared last summer from Summit in Honolulu. It was a scavenger hunt organized by one of their clients. They’d post a clue on their social media Saturday day alluding to where people might find a reflective sticker. At your convenience over the next week go, find it, snap a selfie and share. There were 7 that were done over the summer. This feels like something that could be done right now.
What’s That Noise?
Power 96.1 in Atlanta is doing their own version of Secret Sound as part of their Summer Of 10,000 Miles. And yes, you have 18 months to take your family vacation for four to Disney.
Caller Ten Get’s Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…………..
One of my favorite PD’s just joined a really large station and has vowed “As God is my witness, I’m going to do away with boring ‘roll the touchtones’ contesting.” This, is something that Laura Daniels once did in Albany, would be different:
"Caller 10 Wins....Maybe"
I solicit caller #10 and tell them a secret word (today, it was pineapple) off the air.
Live, I tell them I'm gonna hang up on them, and they have ONE SONG to try to call back and get thru again. I encourage everyone else who wants tickets to call and jam up the phone lines. I pick up, they say "IM BLOCKING (CALLER 10)!!!" because if she (today, Sarah) doesn't get thru with the secret word during the song, we pick another caller, with another word, and do it again. Sarah could use as many phones as she wanted.
Today, first day, we cycled thru about 8 or 9 "I'm BLOCKING Sarah!" before Sarah actually did get thru, yelling "PINEAPPLE!! PINEAPPLE!!!"
Her husband turned out to be a huge fan and she almost peed when she did get thru. Can't believe it worked. But it did.
