Danny Dwyer
Danny from The Bull in Portland fell off his roof and got hurt pretty badly but he’ll be alright. With these kinds of things we forget that the audience is going to want to know how he/she are doing and they’ve done a great job of keeping everyone up-to-speed.
Countdown To The New Years Countdown
Yesterday I saw two different social media posts from people who are already planning their blow out on December 31st. I think in a lot of ways it’s going to be more of a “Thank God this cluster (bad term) is over” then any kind of joyous celebration.
Rick Thomas once brought a Native American shaman into the station in Phoenix and had a cleansing ceremony to remove the curse that lingered over the dial position. Maybe you do a similar ceremony on New Years Eve.
Or create a time capsule with a mask, a hornet, hand sanitizer and all of the other other bad memories of this year. But this isn’t something that we’ll ever want to dig up and be reminded of so put it through a wood chipper.
Or stick a backwards ticking clock on your site to remind people of just how much longer that they have to put up with 2020.
Mask It For A Basket
First, these reversible masks from 93.1 The Wolf in Greensboro are being given away but they’re also selling them to raise funds for a back to school program done by a food bank: buy a mask and help fill a backpack.
Chet Buchanan at KLUC and Lo from Alpha in Portland model their new station masks.
Michael Scott once said that the greatest gift you can ever give someone is a gift basket.
So, what if you filled a few with giftcards for products and services from clients. To win, listeners would need to post, hashtag and share a photo of themselves in a mask. Any mask. Station or otherwise. Could also be done with swapping in the pic for their profile photo.
Christmas In July
From Rob & Joss at 98.1 Sunny-FM in San Diego:
Today, we are doing "Christmas in July" - just a couple of xmas bits since the Hallmark Channel has been doing their "Christmas in July" and this lady in Encinitas who keeps her tree decorated all year long is gonna be on our show. So we were like "Hell, we'll put it all on one day!" SO - attached is Robs heated game of "Hallmark or Robmark" And yes...he made up the scenarios in the "Robmark Movies" himself.
