Insert Pretty Much ANY Client
Here is a product placement sharing contest done by Channel 94.1 in Omaha and Miller Lite. You could do this with pretty much any product that could be held in your hand or that you can stand in front of. NOW in SFO did it with Toyota’s. When you were out and about in the Bay Area and saw a Toyota, you took a selfie with it and shared.
Barbecue Blitz
This has been a mainstay for past summers at Z-89.9 in Red Deer where they will go and hang and eat. For 2020 it’s more of a socially-distanced dropoff promotion. But still…free steaks and beer???? I’d enter and I don’t even live there.
Halloween 2020
This will probably be very different so let’s work with what we know we can do:
Mask-O-Lanterns COVID should not interfere with the tradition of carving pumpkins. So what if you created a template that people could print off your page, tape on a pumpkin and then punch out with an icepick? Basically two eye holes and then thin lines to denote a mask. Here is a sample from when Power in Miami did it. Post, share or use as your profile pic to get spotted and win prizes.
Costumes People will still be dressing up because that’s what we do and for a lot of people like my friend Bob (he is literally Clark Griswold)(he is a genius with food additives) it’s the ONE night of the year he gets to be silly and creative. And since 8th grade Bob has always had the best costume at any party. So a gallery contest would be great. Pet Costumes always work. As do “throwback costumes” of stuff you wore when you with six. My friend Cathy as, apparently a Vietnamese peasant in 1970. Her comment was, and I quote, “WTF was my mom thinking?”
It's a Saturday this year and as kind of non-vibing as a massive Zoom event could be, you could do a Mask-erade Parade virtually. Give everyone a chance to show off their costumes. You could also do a theme like movies or TV shows. Here is CPR Director of Computer Stuff Bel Boschi as part of the Seinfeld gang.
A Griswold Halloween Power 96 in Miami and one of the Flinn stations in Memphis have gone and for Christmas taken a winners house and yard and tricked it out with lights, speakers and “flash to the beat” strobes and turned it into the house that everyone is envious of. What if you did that for Halloween?
Trick Or Treat Street There are certain neighborhoods where everyone goes all out together in a coordinated effort. Maybe that’s a competition? The best block wins something for everyone on the street. My sister-in-laws block is insane. Its like they fly in Hollywood set decorators.
Drivethru Treating iHeart in Toledo does Trunk Or Treat every year and it has grown to a staggering 15,000 people who attend it. They probably are not going to have 15,000 people milling shoulder-to-shoulder this year.
Radio has always been involved with “safe Halloween” events and campaigns. Usually in malls.
What if you got a BIG piece of land like a mall parking lot and coned out a winding path for cars to enter and leave through? Maybe have some costumed high school drama kids, a graveyard, fog machines, spooky lights, spooky music, a place where the car would pause and a masked photog would snap a photo of the costumed kids in the vehicle through the window (and then uploaded and shared immediately), and at the end a table with sealed bags of candy. All the driver needs to do is lean out and pluck three or four off the table and then they drive off. Which is basically how our local county library has been handling book pickups since March. You’re assigned a time, when you drive up the books are there on the table and there is not interaction with library staff.
