Catch Of The Day
DBC in Myrtle Beach is not the only station that is embracing the joys of summer angling. Star 94.9 in Roanoke just wrapped up a “show us your fish” gallery contest.
Eat…But Not Greet
Gnarley Charley and Jody at Kiss in Fresno have a long-running feature, like just about every station, where they bring food to an office. They tweaked it, kept the client and now it’s just a curbside pickup at the sub place. Free food in any economy kills.
For Our Friends, The Casinos
This was a promotion from Stingray where women flashed their engagement ring to win.
What if you did Show Us Your Hand with a casino. The morning show deals five cards every day and announces them. Using a pen or marker, write all five on your hand, take a snap and share with hopes of winning a hand at a table game, or, ^^^^^^, food at their restaurant.
A Drivethru Halloween
There are a couple of mega NTR events that are going to be tweaked and made COVID-safe as “drivethrus”. In fact, that’s a way that the Minnesota State Fair is going to attempt to capture the vibe but without two million people streaming through the gates. It’s going to be a drivethru with food and other fair “stuff” that will cost $20 a car and it is currently the hottest ticket in the state.
So, if you have a client like a theme park or a mall that is going to have to cancel their annual Hween gala (like Camp Spooky at Mall Of America), what about bring them the idea of recreating it in their ginormous lot.
In what qualifies as my brain, I see a serpentine track laid out in their parking lot, or, do it as your own event at a stadium or other giant space. And again…serpentine. (There will be three people who like this movie and that’s all that matters.)
You’d want candy stations with a ghoul using a shovel to pour candy in the car window, maybe use high school drama students to be in costume along the way and taunt the cars, a graveyard, music, maybe some bags of client swag, one “stop” where a photog takes and shares the photo of the kids in the back seat, maybe some costumes pets with volunteers from the ASPCA, a magician and then they’re out. If you had a charitable tie-in, that would help get you bodies to run this.
