It’s comforting. It’s a return to normalcy and when it debuts expect it to be bigger than past years, if that’s possible.

For Cinco de Mayo, Kiss in Chattanooga looked for the best Mexican restaurant in town. One of the voters got food at the winning place and the business got spots on the station.

And for National Ice Cream Day, iHeart in Des Moines did it with “mom and pop” ice cream shops. From Max Schaeffer: We set up an online registration/nomination sweepstakes page in Aptivada. (We added a nomination input box on the registration form.) We chose a random winner from all the nominations. The winning nominator won a $100 Gift Card and the shop they nominated received $1000 free advertising. of course, lots of on-air promotion...we read the list of new nominees each morning.

So, what if you did that with Pumpkin Spice Latte? It’s a hot button based on social media every Fall and would again be a way to connect with local businesses.

Pack The Pod

In the beginning there was “Stuff The Bus”. And it was good.

97.1 ZHT in Salt Lake City has found a way to gen rev out of Back To School by doing an annual event at a mobile storage client. And it’s back for 2020.

There are other things you can do with pods, like, say, live in one until you hit your food donation goal, as done by 94.9 in San Diego with “Can Diego”.

Brackets

Radio does love it’s brackets. It’s digital content, you can sponsor them and they’re great for plugging in when you “need” something.

97 Rock in Buffalo did one as Jacket Bracket with listeners and their winter coats. K-92 in Roanoke did it with “Comfort Food” when people got locked down in March. You could do a Boo Bracket with kids in costumes or listeners old photos of themselves from Halloweens decades ago. You could even do Back To School Bracket with photos of kids on their first day this August or September.
