Taco Tag
One of the stations is looking for prizing that they could trade or barter from clients for Fall contesting.
Me: Do you have a Mexican restaurant that has done stuff with the stations?
She: A couple.
Me: Could two people eat dinner there for $25? (we never want to award a prize that it’s going to cost money to use)
She: Yep.
Me: What if you did $25 meals (“meal” > “gift card”) at their place three or four times a day with tag?
She: Done. You can overthink prizing: free food in any economy is a GREAT prize and Tag (the caller needs to know the name of the previous winner, and on and on) is a GREAT methodology. Cat Thomas suggests Tequila Tag and get a liquor distributer to sponsor it. They DO have money…
Backpacks 4 Class Acts
This contactless school supply drive is sponsored and launched at KLUC in Las Vegas as of yesterday.
Halloweek
Halloween is on a Saturday this year and an iHeart OM had a great line yesterday: “I don’t think we’ll be able to get away with any of the kissing or neck-sucking marathons this year.” Ya think? Haunted houses will probably not be happening so another iHeart cluster is looking at a Drivethru Haunting event.
Halloweek has always been a homerun. Since most stations will acknowledge Halloween ON Halloween and pretty much not until then, doing something different every morning leading up to it could be big? This year, you’d need to do most of it digitally. As an example:
Monday – Zoom listeners and a psychic
Tuesday – Mix it up and go the kids route and do a costume competition.
Wednesday – Scare The Bleep out of a coworker. Listeners scare their coworker and get it on video. Kind of like this.
Thursday – DIY costume making.
Friday – Wrap it up with a séance in the studio or maybe debut your own scary movie remake.Or a hundred other possibilities.
Home Studios
One of the morning shows has now settled into the reality that they’re going to be at home through the beginning of the year and are going to make some attempts to “stage” their studio so when they DO have visuals, it’s just not, well, bleh.
Sitcoms have done all our research for us.
- There is not ONE item in the background, on a shelf, on the frig, that was not strategically places there. Do a little scan of your set and look for places to add “stuff” like maybe an NKOTB lunch box or a bowling trophy from a 6th grade field trip.
- There are always cameos. Maybe you have the mailman make some appearances. How much did “Wilson” add to “Home Improvement”?
- And then some one-and-out bits like the couple in the background on “How I Met Your Mother” who went from 1st date to old age.
We’re in show business. This is a great opp to have some fun.
