Rock The Vote
This has traditionally been a very strong partner for stations and I have seen many that have partnered up with clients and then a local college or university to do events focused on activating the students to get registered.
2020 is uber funky and while Radio has always taken a neutral position and just hit the message, it would be smart to go through your imaging for the campaign and make sure it’s clean. You’re still going to piss some people off but if you can keep that number under, say, 5, then you’re good. First step would be to reach out and see what they have locally that you can partner on.
Pet Furniture
A reminder that people have Hot Buttons and the two universal buttons are Kids and Pets. If you do a photo solicit with either of these, you will most assuredly get entries. Results Radio in Redding just did it with a client that gave away pet furniture. Furniture…for pets. Tell me that your listeners wouldn’t enter that…
Four Virtually Unstoppable Digital Promotions
Further evidence that stations and advertisers are working together to adjust traditional events for 2020.
The Cat Film Fest. The St. Paul Saints are co-owned by Bill Murray and the guy that blew up all the Disco records at a Cubs game, which goes a LONG way towards explaining why the team does COOL STUFF. myTalk 107.1 in the Twin Cities which is also cool, has partnered with them for a Film Fest featuring cats at the stadium every year. This year? On-line.
The Cattleman’s Ball is an annual gala that KTTS in Springfield has been a part of. This year? Digital.
Channel 94.1 in Omaha is doing a contactless virtual food drive.
And WMMR in Philly is on-board with the American Cancer Society’s Bike-A-Thon which is digital this year.
Radio is like football. You have a goal. You have a series of plays. You have a team. You have a competitor that you need to program and promote against strategically and sometimes, you have to make adjustments to the game plan.
