Food ‘N Flix Friday
One of the things that we’ve discovered since March is that giving away food during a global health emergency when everyone is stuck at home, seems to work. Bigly. Now what if you added a Netflix subscription to that free pizza? Or, three videos of your choice from the cut-out bin at Walgreens. Add a “day of the week” and you have a promotion.
Bar Wars
I saw some article on-line about how people have been using their home time to work on projects and one project genre is “home bars”
So what if you got a liquor distributor to sponsor a gallery of these home creations? Maybe the prize is a neon beer light and some other accessories.
Trouble In The Bubble
My normally upbeat and perky friend Cindy IM’ed me on-or-about March 16th because she was going to kill her husband if he didn’t learn how to chew potato chips more quietly.
I’m still waiting for a station to award a divorce. The market manager at Entercom in St. Louis told us on a call that one of their lawyer clients is “backlogged” with people filing for divorces.
One idea would be to do a version of the pre-nup weekend and award half of prizes.
“Bubble” is a big term right now. In fact 99.1 HITS-FM is using it as a gallery contest.
You could do it as a topic: what if your significant other doing that is DRIVING YOU NUTS?!
You could do a version of Love Court and have the audience help mediate and come up with solutions for a couple.
You could get a camping client to give them a tent so someone could get some away time in the yard.
Or you could award some zoom’ed therapy with a client.
High School Football
At least in Minnesota it’s been pushed to March.
Can you imagine being a senior in high school, it’s your last year, you’re going to be one of the starters on the tea…no…of course you can’t. You’re in Radio.
You could do Athlete Of The Week as a spin on all of the Senior Spotlights that stations did this Spring. Just because Jim isn’t playing right now doesn’t mean that he can’t get recognition for all of the years of practice and playing he did to get to this point.
I once saw a station do a Madden game on the ceiling of the local omnitheater. It was pretty freaking cool.
So what if you did a weekly Friday Night matchup. Two QB’s from opposing schools playing Madden or any of the 100 variations of it from the safety of their own homes, on your site. Kick off at 7 pm and watch Tim from Forest Lake and John from Edina battle it out.
You could even have your own virtual stadium and sell naming rights.
