Pick Your Staycation
97.5 K-Rock in St. Johns has traditionally done Rock The Road as a series of concert flyaways and sends winners all over the globe to see BIG tours.
This year they’re keeping it close to home, or, more specifically, on the island. Winners can choose from a number of adventures that are listed in a menu of options. REALLY cool.
Pick Your Pet!
If people didn’t love pets, every third post on social media would not be about pets. WJBR in Wilmington is giving away dogs!! (Or adoptions fees to adopt dogs because Legal would defecate dogs if you actually gave them away.
Beer
Quite a few stations have done virtual happy hours and Froggy 92.9 in Santa Rosa has done virtual wine tasting.
Craft beers are definitely a passion for people. Skor North, Hubbard’s Sports, discusses beer every day.
To fill the void left by the State Fair, the Minneapolis paper is doing a two day virtual beer garden of sampling locally crafted beers. There could be a virtual event to stick on your calendar.
Bears!
The first station I saw dip their toes in the teddybear pool was one of the Newcap stations in Edmonton who collected SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND of them and drove them to shelters in Texas.
The night after Sandy Hook, NOW in SFO hosted a candlelight skating event where people came and donated bears for local first responders.
And Warm 96.9 in Seattle gave out free bears for kids and families dealing with stress during the most jacked up summer ever. From Gus Swanson:
Despite the rainfall Saturday, August 8th, hundreds of the Warm 106.9 listening family drove through the Coal Creak YMCA to get their Warm Virtual Bear Hug!
Car after car stopped by to receive clean, sealed teddy bears from our Warm 106.9 Teddy Bear Patrol.
Warm 106.9 knows we all need a hug right now and what better way to start your day than a virtual teddy "Bear Hug!"
The event was such a success, we've scheduled a second one this Saturday from 10a-Noon at SeaTac YMCA, 3595 South 188th St., with your host, Seth, Mornings on Warm 106.9
Home Studio Backgrounds
The Padres have approached Sunny 98.1 are going to stick Rob, Joss and a pair of winners behind homeplate. The morning show from NOW in SFO are already there.
“Bernie” went viral when someone at the Royals put him in the seats. What could be fun and would be an excellent use of a lazerjet printer would be to populate the “seats” in your home studio. And go with “weird” over “cool”. You want MC Hammer. Clarissa Darling. The little boy from problem child. And maybe a movie pet Toto. Or the band Toto.
