Actual Darn COVID-19 Ideas
P1 Research and Benztown had a great idea and back in March they opened up a group on Facebook just for the global Radio community to share what they’re doing with the pandemic. And they have created an awards for it. And you, yes you, can vote on the best and maybe score tickets to Radiodays Europe, Radiodays Asia or Podcast Day.
American broadcasters especially can sometimes be out of the loop on what brands are doing in other countries so this is a GREAT and free opportunity to go through and see what your peers have done and maybe it will spark something to do in the coming weeks and months.
Kudos and even an accolade to iHeart in Dallas, The Bull in Seattle, Power 96.1 in Atlanta and JACK in Calgary for their nominations. Sarah at JACK did “How getting naked in the garage protects my husband.” And it’s in there. Or here if you don’t want to scroll through the voting process.

December is a time for radio stations to ask people to give us stuff. That’s fine but better than that is selling a product or a service. Chromebooks For Kids
This launched yesterday in Birmingham where iHeart has paired up with the United Way to buy and distribute computers and tablets to families who are going to be remote schooling this Fall and don’t have the necessary resources to do it. VERY cool. Congrats to Tom Hanrahan and Dino Conrad for getting this going.
