In 1997 I saw a presentation at Morning Show Bootcamp that was pretty amazing. This guy got up and basically dissected the first four years of SNL for content, characters and developed a lot of parallels between the show and morning teams.

And then…he blew it by making a comment that even by my standards would have been on the No Fly List. Literally half the room got up, walked out and demanded refunds.

But up until that point, he was on a roll.

One of the stations has replaced a very low-rated morning show. And the trolls have come out of the woodwork on social media. So, they’re going to do a spin on this.

When Bill Murray replaced Chevy Chase, people hated him. (Can you even imagine?) So he had the intestinal fortitude to take it on and apologize and beg for people to give him a chance.

Last week I realized just how many stations are doing some form of barbecue giveaway or cooking classes. JACK in Vancouver kind of combines the two: they’ll be awarding a grill based on the best recipe.
