Last Thursday’s Webinar
Here is the video of the presentation.
Basic Girls
Following up on the PSL from yesterday, one of the stations is about to do “Netflix For A Year” which is basically taking $200 and making it sound way way bigger than just 4200. And then… “We’re starting$25 Starbucks 3 times daily. Each winner qualifies for the “Basic Girl Starter Kit”: a pair of Ugg boots, Lulu Lemon yoga pants, a case of white claw with merch, yankee candle, Bath & Body Works stuff, etc..”
GREAT Social Media
More fires in and around Santa Rosa. I have a Facebook friend who almost got trapped and killed on Sunday night and got to her home on Monday and it’s gone. KSRO is doing their expected SUPERLATIVE job of updating the audience on the air and on social media and the other brands in the cluster are feeding from that. This is how you justify having a license.
End Of The Year Dumpster Fire
I was trading messages with three friends from high school on Saturday morning about how effing horrible 2020 has been for everyone and boom, another friend texts and says that one of our classmates had died overnight. This is like the third in two months. It’s nuts.
I message the other three and say “You’re not going to believe this but…” and almost immediately one of them who seems to have 100 GIF’s stored and broken into categories, replies with an image of a dumpster on fire.
So… what if you brought back the old Valentines shred/burn/drop your ex promotion when listeners destroy mementoes of awful past relationships. But do it with a dumpster (or reasonable facsimile) on New Years Eve. In the week leading up to the 31st have people drop off stuff like old masks, pink slips, toilet paper, basically anything that will remind them of the past 12 months. And throughout your evening broadcast, go out and feed the flames.
PB&J
I’m old. I’m jaded. I’ve never seen a Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive. This is great.
One of the iHeart stations has 500 coats that WERE supposed to go to another event which has been cancelled because of COVID and are looking for a hook to get these to kids who will need them this Fall and Winter. And they don’t want to just give them all to a charity.
The times that Gown Town and Christmas Wish have been best is when stations enlist the audience to tell them about people in need, ie:
“We’re heading into a time of year when our thoughts to turn wrapping up and staying warm. Unfortunately 2020 has been unbelievably harsh on families. Our friends at (client) want to know about youth in our community who need a coat as we head into the Fall and Winter. It could be a neighbor. A family friend. A schoolmate of your own children…or…your own children. Please let us know at (site) and we will try to bundle up as many as we can.”
